Nick Hardiker

Nick has a background in Nursing and has substantial training (including a PhD) in Computer Science. He has been involved in research around health informatics and information management for over 15 years, both at the University of Manchester and at the University of Salford.

He has a strong track record of research around terminology, classification and knowledge representation and has substantial experience of projects involving software development and formative and summative evaluation (for example the Pen & Pad programme and TELENURSE) and web development (such as the Clinical Templates project in Scotland and Shaping the Future for Primary Care Education and Training in which he was responsible for the development and usability testing of a web-based course finder tool).

Nick holds an adjunct position at the University of Colorado-Denver. He has published widely and is asked regularly to speak at conferences and seminars. He is a member of national and international standards bodies and think tanks and regularly advises organisations such as the UK Royal College of Nursing, the International Council of Nurses, the UK Department of Health, and others on informatics issues.
